Singing with the choir

A brief introduction

What you can expect of us:

  • The chance to work on major choral works, both classic and modern
  • Regular rehearsals led by a specialist conductor, including sessions for separate voices
  • A positive, hard-working but fun atmosphere in which we share the joy of singing
  • Warm-ups at the beginning of each rehearsal
  • Intensive rehearsal weekends to build on what you’ve learned
  • A chance to work with students on the conducting course
  • Participation in choral concerts
  • Small-group voice training with students from HfM Detmold’s singing classes
  • Free loan of sheet music

 What we expect of you

  • A good voice and basic sight-reading skills
  • Regular attendance at rehearsals
  • The ability to fit in with the choir
  • Compliance with our rules

What happens at your first rehearsal:

You’ll be introduced to the conductor and your voice representative, and we’ll take your contact details. You’ll then either observe or take part in the rehearsal. After one of your first rehearsals, you’ll be asked to decide whether our outlook is compatible with yours, and undergo a brief audition with the conductor to test your basic suitability.
