German Language Courses HfM Detmold

Good German language skills are important for successful studies at the HfM Detmold. (An overview of the language requirements for the individual study programs can be found here.)

To support you in learning German, the HfM Detmold offers its own free German courses for enrolled students. The courses are aimed at beginners (A2 level) and advanced learners (B1 and B2 level).

Small groups ensure that you make individual and rapid progress.

Immediately before the start of the semester, an intensive language course is offered to all international students with limited language skills. We expect all students who have not yet submitted a B1 language certificate or not yet can speak confidently at B1 level to participate.

Additional language courses are held during the semester. Here you can improve your language skills in small groups. The courses "Fachsprache Musik" are specially planned for music students. You can register for the in-semester courses via the course catalog.

Please note that language certificate exams cannot be taken in the language courses at the HfM Detmold.
