Chamber music

At Detmold University of Music, a particular focus is on the work of the chamber music ensembles, as this is where essential musical skills such as interaction, a sense of responsibility and aural skills are trained. This is why the university has numerous permanent ensembles and organises several internal chamber music competitions. Moreover, chamber music work is continuously integrated into public concert life: in addition to its numerous rehearsal rooms, the university has five chamber music halls suitable for public use. In addition to all main subject teachers, there are teachers specifically responsible for chamber music among the professors. While the members of the Auryn Quartett are responsible for string chamber music, piano chamber music has been in the hands of Rinko Hama since the summer semester 2021. Merve Kazokoğlu is in charge of contemporary chamber music.

Mosaiken

Since the winter semester 2015, the Mosaiken (Mosaics) festivals have been sharpening the chamber music profile of Detmold University of Music and giving students the opportunity to perform chamber music in a professional context. For Artistic Director Professor Alexander Gebert, the experience of working in an ensemble towards a goal over a longer period of time is of particular importance for musical education. Kammermusik in Detmold

The “Kammermusik in Detmold” (Chamber Music in Detmold) festival has a long tradition at Detmold University of Music. On two consecutive evenings in every summer semester, professors and outstanding students come together under a new theme to interpret particularly interesting programmes together in the Konzerthaus.  The artistic responsibility lies with Professor Thomas Lindhorst.
