Hans Werner Henze's private library transferred to Detmold

(13 December 2021) For 50 years of his life, Hans Werner Henze's property in La Leprara, south of Rome, served as a refuge for the composer. Not only his most important works were created there, but also well-known musicians, artists and writers such as Ingeborg Bachmann and Rudi Dutschke came and went. Now his private library, which he used every day to compose, has found its way into the music library of the Hochschule für Musik Detmold. There it will be used for scientific purposes, in order to better understand not only Henze's work itself, but also the entire political and philosophical discourse of the post-war period.

Read the detailed press release here (in German).
