Prof. Dr. Aristotelis Hadjakos

Aristotelis Hadjakos studied computer science at the Technical University of Darmstadt and piano pedagogy at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. He moreover received in-depth artistic piano lessons at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. Aristotelis Hadjakos obtained a doctorate on the topic of “Sensor-Based Feedback for Piano Pedagogy” and worked as a postdoc in the Telecooperation Lab of the Technical University of Darmstadt before he was appointed Professor of Music Informatics at HfM Detmold in 2013. Since then he has been Director of the Zentrum für Musik- und Filminformatik (ZeMFI – Centre for Music and Film Informatics) and a member of the Zentrum Musik-Edition-Medien (ZenMEM – Music, Edition, Media Centre). He also heads the innovative Master’s programme in Audiovisual Arts Computing. Aristotelis Hadjakos researches in the field of musical human-machine interaction and music information retrieval. His focus is on tangible musical interfaces, musical e-learning environments and interfaces for supporting creative processes of musicians, music teachers, media professionals and musicologists. He regularly publishes at conferences in the field of music and computer science, especially at NIME (New Interfaces for Musical Expression), SMC (Sound and Music Computing) and ICMC (International Computer Music Conference).
