Pianist Hartmut Schneider was born in 1960 in Friedrichshafen. At an early age, while still Edgardo Sanchez's piano student, he had already won numerous national and international prizes (the Brahms Competition Hamburg and the Yamaha Competition Stresa). He later studied at the National Music College in Stuttgart under Oleg Maisenberg, where he graduated from soloist studies with distinction. Hartmut Schneider is the duo partner of the cellists Latzko (SWR), Niculescu (Mailänder Scala), Orloff (Canada) and has recorded many solo and chamber music pieces for radio. He has gained international acclaim as the permanent accompanist of Hermann Prey in his last year, especially following the successful performances at the Salzburg Festival in 1997 and the Vienna Schubertiade in the Big Music Association Hall. Hartmut Schneider was also teaching at the Trossingen State College of Music. In 2005 he was appointed Professor of Piano at the Detmold University for Music and was shortly thereafter elected prorector, a position that he held up until 2008.
