Grzegorz Stopa
Was born in 1973 in Poland, studied with Prof. W. L. Puchnowski at the F. Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw and as scholar of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with Prof. Mie Miki at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen.
As laureate of eleven international and national solo- and chamber music competitions, among others in Klingenthal, Castelfidardo and Tokio, numerous concert tours lead him throughout Europe and Asia. So he performed repeatedly at the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Tonhalle in Düsseldorf as well as the Casals Hall or Kioi Hall in Tokyo. He debuted as the first accordioninst within the scope of the concert series "Solisten der Jungen Elite" at the Mecklenburg Vorpommern Festival in 2003 and in 2009 he had his debut with a solo programme in the Großer Musikvereinssaal in Vienna.
Grzegorz Stopa especially has made a name for himself through his involvement in contemporary music and worked together with composers Kalevi Aho, Sofia Gubaidulina, Sven-Ingo Koch, Bojidar Spassov, Makoto Nomura, Mark-Andreas Schlingensiepen as well as with the Vienna Philharmonic, the ensemble "die reihe" and as member of the "notabu.ensemble neue musik".
After being university teacher in Essen and Detmold already while his studies, Grzegorz Stopa was appointed as head of the international accordion class at the Konservatorium Wien University in 2005 and also at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold in 2009.
