André Stärk (*1966) studied music (majoring in piano) and philosophy at the University of Music and Drama Hanover. Furthermore, he did German language and literature studies at the University of Hanover. He decided to do his post graduate studies in music theory and aural training with Prof. Marliese Zeiner and Prof. Christoph Hempel. During his music training, he worked as a scientific aid or rather as an assistant lecturer in the field of electro acoustic media/using technical equipment in the sound studio there. From 1993 to 1998, he was the assistant lecturer for music theory and aural training. Thereafter, he worked in the field of music theory/audio-technical media at the University of Education Freiburg.There he founded the big band of the university.
In 2000, he held the position of vice professor in music theory at the University of Lueneburg.
In 2001, he followed the call to the University of Music Detmold.
Since 2004, André Stärk has been the prorector for students and responsible for, amongst other things, the structure of the Bachelors and Masters degrees.
