Detmold Hochschule für Musik

Heike Arnold-Joppich studied Music, Elementary Music Education for the teaching profession under Mrs. Prof. Schröfel-Gatzmann as well as guitar playing under Prof. Bungarten at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover (University of Music and Drama Hannover). Furthermore she continued her education in singing, children's chorus conducting, improvised dance, clown theatre and cabaret.
She instructed early musical education and basic musical training, parent-child groups and guitar at several music schools. In the course of her practice as chorus conductor for children's choruses and youth choruses at several music schools and primary schools as well as in music clubs and municipalities she also directed numerous children's musicals among other things.
As lecturer she headed the diploma study programme General Music Education at the Dortmund campus of the Hochschule für Musik Detmold from 2001 until 2004. Since 2004 she holds, aside from her teaching profession at the Musik und Kunstschule der Stadt Osnabrück, lectureships for conducting of children's choruses and singing with children at the Universität Osnabrück (Osnabrueck University) and the Hochschule für Künste Bremen (University of the Arts Bremen).
She wrote the teaching concepts "Singing and Music Playing in Parent-Child Singing groups (Toni im Liedergarten)" and "Vocal Music Playing with 4 to 6 year children (Toni im Kindergarten)" for the Chorverband NRW.
Since 2006 she holds a professorship for Elementary Music Education at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold. To her area of responsibility belong the courses of studies Elementary Music Education, the master programmes "Singing with Children" and "Group music playing with primary school children".
