Ulrike-Anima Mathé was born in Germany. She studied under Françoise Zöldy in Basel; under Dorothy DeLay at the Juilliard School in New York and under Tibor Varga in Detmold. Her lengthy participation in the Marlboro School of Music, led by Serkin, and the Open Chamber Music in Cornwall, initiated by Végh, as well as the study of historical performance practice of the Baroque violin at the Schola Cantorum in Basel were further stages of her artistic career. In the eighties, she won a few important international prizes, for instance, first prize at the German Music Competition in Bonn in 1986; first prize at the Young Concert Artists Auditions in New York 1988; a prize as well as the public's prize at the Concours Reine Elisabeth in Brussels, 1989.

As soloist she worked, among others, with the Czech Philharmonic; the Dallas Symphony Orchestra; the Camerata Salzburg; the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra; the Weimar Staatskapelle Orchestra; the Polish and the Hungarian Radio orchestras. She has performed at the Berlin Festival; the Lucerne Festival; the Schwetzingen Festival and at international chamber music festivals in Lockenaus, Hitzacker, and Ittingen. Her duo partners include Alexander Lonquich, Matthias Kirschnereit and Bruno Canino. Ulrike-Anima Mathé has made CD recordings for

She also teaches historical performance practice at the Detmold Baroque Academy Room, where she for several years also has been responsible for the instrumental ensemble.
